Since its founding in 1977, Elm Street has grown into one of the largest privately-owned developers in the region. We specialize in the creation of planned communities, mixed-use developments, and apartment communities. During these past 36+ years, we have created over 250 communities, over 39,500 residential lots, over 4,400 apartments, and a portfolio of mixed-used developments. Projects are located throughout the Washington-Baltimore area and range in size from 10 unit in-fill communities to 3,000 unit planned communities.

The expertise of Elm Street includes planning, zoning, value engineering, site development, and project management. Our property management company, Legend Management, provides award winning management to all of our apartment communities. Our development managers have always had a leadership role in organizations like ULI and NAHB local affiliates to remain current with best practices of the industry and to advocate for the betterment of the overall community in which we live.

Elm Street has the proven ability to withstand real estate recessions and the financial strength to see developments through to completion. Elm Street is always working on many developments which will not start construction for years into the future. The company currently controls over 10,000 future residential lots, multiple future apartment sites, and several future mixed-use projects.
